More Egyptian doggies

These dogs don't have their names written out. But there are at least 77 documented dogs with names given in the ancient Egyptian records. At least one is depicted sitting under the chair of a woman, so they are not all the companions of men only. I also like the cute little one with the curly tail. It is possibly an ancestor of the basenji. The one in the last picture hunting ostrich, in gold, is heavier-set than the normal sight-hounds that are depicted. I read on a dog website that some ancient Egyptian dogs may be related to or at least look a lot like the mastiff. I think this is one of those heavier, mastiff-like dogs. It might even be an ancestor of my dog Gilligan.
