I love dolls

Ok, so I love dolls. I guess that's why I am exceedingly fascinated by the little model people that proliferate in tombs in the First Intermediate Period and Middle Kingdom. These examples are really cool: Model soldiers, Nubian and Egyptian. The Egyptian soldiers are a brownish color and the Nubian soldiers are much darker, almost black. The Nubian soldiers have bows and arrows, the weapon of choice for these fighters, and they have red sashes that usually identify Nubian mercenaries/soldiers in Egyptian art. The Egyptians have spears and shields that are individualized. They are just so CUTE I can hardly stand it!
Both of these sets of soldiers are from the tomb of Mesehety at Assiut, Dynasty 10 or 11 and currently housed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
I forgot to say that I also really like these little mini-kilts. I like to think of them as Magnum PI kilts.
